Three years ago when my boss advised me to try out meditation as a solution to deal powerfully with office politics, I silently cursed him for not supporting me and rejected his suggestion with a strong belief that in the modern workspace of cut-throat competition one cannot remain silent and has to defend or fight back with words and actions. This mindset with time made the workplace for me nothing but a space of action and reaction, avoiding failures or getting maximum wins in high-stake conversations.
While I was busy settling my accounts in professional life, life hit me with the leg injury and everything came to standstill, I was forced to pause and relook into my default way of operating in life- ACT AND REACT. The emotional and physical pain of the injury made me re-think the advice and try out meditation to prove my boss wrong.
It has been two years; mediation has become an essential practice of my morning routine. Never had I thought that just sitting on the mat and focusing on my breath in the morning will actually help me mindfully resolve issues, bring harmony and show up strong in workspace. The default flow of my thoughts has no power on me anymore. Even if it comes, I now have a tool to put them in its place and focus only on thoughts that are empowering me and others.
Today meditation has become the most integral part of my life from accepting complete alien advice from my boss and making it one of the superior quality decisions of my life.
